Senior Director of Finance

BC Pavilion Corporation (PavCo), owner and operator of BC Place Stadium and the Vancouver Convention Centre, is currently searching for a Senior Director of Finance to join our team. This person would report to the Chief Financial Officer, would oversee the Finance Department, be an important member of the senior management team and advisor to PavCo’s executive team as the organization achieves its vision to be the global leader in outstanding venues and events.

As the Senior Director of Finance you will provide the oversight and management that ensures accurate and timely reporting, forecasting, planning, budgeting, accounting, costing, regulatory reporting and analysis in support of decision-making at the corporate and facility level. In addition, you will provide counsel, offer leadership and direction to his/her team, and provide advice on commercial transactions.

  • Oversee all of the day to day operations of the finance department, including purchasing, receiving, receivables, payroll, compliance, reporting, capital planning and budgeting
  • Work with the executive team in the development and/or refinement of financial and operational reports and key performance indicators to support best in class strategic, financial and operational effectiveness, and instills accountability across the facilities and within the corporate office.
  • Build a strategy and anticipates industry changes in order to maximize financial goals and ensure the financial plan and forecasting is aligned with Corporate goals and objectives
  • Coordinate and prepare annual operating and capital budgets, strategic plans, annual audit financial reports, analysis of budgets, short-term forecasts, planning support and financial interpretation
  • Establish efficient and effective processes for ensuring sound financial decision making throughout the organization across multiple departments
  • Analyze and review trends related to operating techniques, ensuring optimum utilization of resources.
  • Provides internal consultation on contract matters and commercial transactions and recommends actions for resolution


  • 10 years relevant experience with a minimum of 5 years in a finance leadership role
  • A university degree combined with recognized professional designation (accounting preference)
  • Experience leading re-engineering projects that have improved efficiency, reduced operational costs, and enhanced decision making
  • Experience developing and implementing highly effective performance management tools and practices
  • Ability to take an active role in developing the future course of an organization that capitalizes on opportunities, identifies opportunities to enhance service, and offers support for bottom-line results
  • Has in-depth knowledge of how technology can enhance the operational and financial effectiveness of complex organizations
