Labour Relations Advisor

Our client, the partnership behind the exciting Site C Clean Energy Project in Fort St. John, is seeking a Labour Relations Advisor to oversee all employee relations pertaining to employees and subcontractors. This is an excellent, fly-in, fly-out role for a significant and important project in Northern BC.

Responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to): 

  • Liaise and coordinate on Labour Relations matters representing the partnership with all employees, contractors, unions and labour relations associations
  • Evaluate and communicate risks and opportunities of various labour/employee relations approaches to ensure appropriate decisions are made
  • Take a “hands-on” supportive role in labour/employee relations issues prevention and/or resolution
  • Maintain relationships with key external organizations, institutions, associations and governmental agencies that affect labour/employee relations
  • Work closely with the onsite Industry training, (Apprentices) Security, Safety and Logistics Coordinators
  • General Labour Relations, Collective Agreement and Labour legislation interpretation, Human Rights, BC Employment Standards and Labour Relations Code
  • Employee training and development 

Desired experience / qualifications for the role: 

  • Degree or certificate in Human Resources or Labour Relations
  • Minimum five years of progressive labour relations, experience with focus on multiple collective agreements and labour relations management
  • Performance of Labour relations for a major industrial project involving all union affiliations
  • Current membership with BCHRMA and CPHR designation preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to take a strategic approach to Labour Relations matters
